I’ve heard that so many times before, and for some reason today it - again - seems appropriate. My hands are literally shaking as I type this.
THIS: my first blog post!
I feel that sense of pressure from myself right now, which is exactly why I’m here pouring my heart out to the internet. I would never treat any other aspect of my life this way. By god, this blog is about FOOD, the easiest thing to fuck up! But that alone is exactly why I love to cook.
To me, cooking is about the process. It’s about having so many options, so many ways to do “one” thing, and just doing it. I love when I find myself just throwing something together that is almost identical to so many other meals I've created...except for that one thing. That one vegetable, that one oil, an extra pinch of salt, or a slight char that I left off last time. That one thing that makes it an entirely new dish. So delicious. So new. Every time.
People and words are the exact same way. We’re all one in a million (eight million?), and yet we’re all so similar.
I feel so blessed in my life to have the people around me that I do. Today, coffee with a new friend, technically one of my “customers.” We shot the shit, learning a little more about each others’ professional backgrounds, etc, all to discover that we both are obsessively OCD about white t-shirts. The world’s most simple article of clothing that we are more particular about than most ladies are about their hair. And this point led us to the conclusion that yes, yes indeed we were separated at birth. But beyond this connection, my new friend inspired me to launch this blog today. I sat down at my computer, opened up weebly.com, and just...did it. I love that! She’ll be getting some vegan cookies from me soon.
I can only hope that in some weird way this blog - my fun little side-project (as if I’m not busy enough already) - can inspire you to try something that scares the shit out of you. Sure, I plan to post pretty pictures of food. (Luckily for you, you’ll never know when the beauty of the photos doesn’t match the taste. Hehehe.) I plan to share my recipes and things that inspire me, but this is because, well, it’s MY blog! But food doesn’t “inspire” everyone. It just looks pretty (or not) and tastes good (or not) and to some, it’s just something they have to consume to stay alive. (Gasp!)
Whatever your “food” is, though, I want to know what you’re doing. And I want to learn what inspires you the way the people in my life push me, so lovingly, to do the things that scare me. Like starting this freaking blog!
Ciao, bella.
