Infallible Pizza Dough
Ingredients
2-4 Cups White Whole Wheat Flour
1 Cup Hot Water
1 packet Baker's Yeast
1 tbsp Maple Syrup
2 tbsp Olive Oil
1 tsp sea salt
1. Mix water, yeast, and maple syrup in a large mixing bowl. Allow to sit for 7-10 minutes, or just until you're about to forget about it.
2. Stir in salt, 1 tbsp oil, and 2 cups of the flour.
3. Slowly add more flour while stirring until the dough is sticky but collects around your spoon.
4. Turn out dough onto a clean, lightly floured surface.
5. Knead dough with floured hands until it won't absorb any more flour.
6. Place dough ball into a clean mixing bowl that has 1 tbsp of oil in the bottom. Roll dough around until coated, cover bowl, and set in a warm draft-free area for up to two hours. I like to turn my oven on "Warm" and set the bowl on top of it to allow it to rise.
7. When dough is twice it's original size, turn out again onto a floured surface or oiled pan, and roll or press into a pizza crust that is about 1/4" thick. Prick all over with a fork (every 1-2").
8. Bake at 400 degrees for about 10 minutes, until very light golden brown.
9. Top with your favorite toppings, and bake an additional 10-15 minutes until dough gets to your liking. If toppings starts to brown too much but the dough needs additional baking, place aluminum foil lightly tented over the center of the pizza, leaving crust exposed for the remainder of the cooking time.
Enjoy!
